On Cloud City's gantry, Vader cut off Luke's hand and said, 'I am your father.' Luke refused the offer to rule the Empire and fell into the reactor shaft. Lando and Leia pulled him from the underside antenna. The truth reshaped the war (Empire Strikes Back, 3 ABY).
