Darth Bane Establishes Rule of Two

After the destruction of the Brotherhood of Darkness, Darth Bane creates the Rule of Two for the Sith.

After the Brotherhood of Darkness was destroyed on Ruusan, Darth Bane rejected mass Sith armies. He established the Rule of Two: one master to embody power, one apprentice to crave it. The line survived in secret until Darth Sidious, a thousand years later, overthrew the Republic (Darth Bane novels; referenced in The Clone Wars and The Phantom Menace).
