Kamino lies beyond the Outer Rim proper, south of the Rishi Maze, a stormy ocean world whose continents drowned when its ice caps melted. The native Kaminoans - tall, pale, long-necked cloners of unsentimental brilliance - rebuilt their civilization on stilt-cities above the waves and turned to genetic science as both industry and philosophy.

Around 32 BBY, Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas secretly commissioned a clone army here; the order was hijacked by Darth Tyranus, who supplied the template - bounty hunter Jango Fett - and had Kamino erased from the Jedi Archives. Obi-Wan Kenobi famously rediscovered it by its gravity's pull on surrounding space. Tipoca City's production lines built the Grand Army of the Republic, and with it, the instrument of Order 66.

First appearance: Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones (2002)
