Qui-Gon Jinn

Qui-Gon Jinn was a Jedi Master who often defied the Council. During the crisis that became the invasion of Naboo he discovered Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine and named him the Chosen One. Darth Maul mortally wounded him in the Theed generator complex; Obi-Wan Kenobi promised to train the boy. Yoda later confirmed that Qui-Gon had learned to retain his identity after death and passed that knowledge on.
