Coruscant

Expanded Dossier
⬢ CURATED RECORDCoruscant is the galaxy's political center of gravity: a single city, Galactic City, wrapping the entire planet in 5,127 numbered levels built over millennia. Its surface has not seen natural ground in recorded history; the deeper levels descend into the perpetual artificial night of the underworld, where sunlight is replaced by holo-signage and the law thins level by level.
As the seat of the Galactic Republic and Senate, the Jedi Order's great Temple, and later Emperor Palpatine's Imperial Palace, Coruscant defines galactic standard time and sits at coordinates zero-zero-zero on navigation charts. It remained the Imperial capital until the New Republic's victory, and its liberation - 'Coruscant celebrates' - marked the visual end of the Galactic Civil War.
