Taris

Taris was an Outer Rim ecumenopolis that tried to be a lesser Coruscant: swoop gangs in the Undercity, nobles in the towers, rakghouls in the sewers. In the Jedi Civil War, Darth Malak bombarded it from orbit rather than let the Republic hold it — one of the most infamous planetary glassings in the record.

Revan's escape through the Undercity, the swoop track, and Bastila Shan's capture are the Knights of the Old Republic opening that still drives searches for the name. Later centuries rebuilt slivers of the world; the bombardment remains the fact every dossier leads with.
