Starkiller Base

Starkiller Base was the First Order's apotheosis of the Death Star concept: not a station but a planet - the snow-forested world formerly charted as Ilum, holy kyber source of the Jedi - hollowed and converted into a superweapon that drank a star's plasma and projected it through hyperspace to kill whole systems light-years away.

Its single firing erased the Hosnian system and the New Republic's government. Days later, Resistance starfighters - exploiting sabotage by Finn, Han Solo and Chewbacca - detonated its thermal oscillator; the imploding weapon collapsed into the star it had half-drained. Han Solo died on its maintenance bridge, killed by his son.
