Mon Cala (Dac, in its peoples' tongues) is a storm-ocean world shared by two civilizations: the philosophical, artistic Mon Calamari and the bellicose, deep-dwelling Quarren - an alliance renegotiated every generation, sometimes at spearpoint. Its coral cities float between surface storms and abyssal trenches.

The Clone Wars' underwater Battle of Mon Cala put boy-king Lee-Char on the throne; the Empire later occupied the world for its shipwrights and broke its cities when they resisted. Those exiled shipyards became the Rebellion's capital ships - Admiral Ackbar's Home One class among them. No species contributed more tonnage to the Empire's defeat.

First appearance: Admiral Ackbar in Return of the Jedi (1983); the world in The Clone Wars
