Kuat is less famous than the ring around it: Kuat Drive Yards, the orbital shipyard halo that built the Empire's spine - Imperial-class Star Destroyers by the thousand, AT-AT walkers, and half the dreadnoughts in naval history. The planet below is a garden world of aristocratic merchant houses who own it all.

Control of Kuat has decided wars; the New Republic's Kuat campaign after Endor strangled the Imperial remnant's resupply. Sabine Wren put it simply: if it flies and it's trying to kill you, odds are it came from Kuat.

First appearance: Legends' Thrawn trilogy (1991); canon appearances across Rebels and Aftermath
