⬢ CURATED RECORDIlum was the Jedi Order's sacred winter world: a snowbound planet whose crystal caves grew attuned kyber, where generations of younglings undertook 'the Gathering' - entering the caves alone to be found by the crystal that would heart their lightsaber.
The Empire strip-mined Ilum on a planetary scale for the Death Star projects, carving a trench around its equator. By the First Order era the hollowed world had been rebuilt into Starkiller Base - the Jedi's holiest site weaponized into a system-killer, and destroyed with it in 34 ABY.
