Hosnian Prime was the New Republic's capital at its end - a cosmopolitan Core world hosting the Senate and home fleet under the rotating-capital system meant to prevent another Coruscant-style imperial center. Its skyline of layered arcologies housed the government of a thousand worlds.

In 34 ABY Starkiller Base's first full firing shattered the entire Hosnian system in a single beam-storm visible across the galaxy: the Senate, the fleet, and billions of citizens erased between heartbeats. The Republic's decapitation left the Resistance alone against the First Order - precisely as designed.
