Geonosis is a red rock world of mesas, hives and flint spires within sight of Tatooine, home to the insectoid Geonosians: a caste society of drones, soldiers and aristocrats who ran some of the galaxy's largest droid foundries beneath their hive-spires. Their petranaki arena fed prisoners to monsters as public spectacle.

Here the Clone Wars began in 22 BBY: the Separatist council convened, Count Dooku sentenced Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme to the arena, and Mace Windu's Jedi assault force met the droid army - the Republic's new clone army deciding the day. Years later the Empire sterilized the planet with chemical agents to conceal what its hives had begun building: the Death Star.
