The Forest Moon of Endor orbits the silvery gas giant Endor in the remote Moddell sector, a temperate moon of kilometer-tall trees inhabited by Ewoks - small, spear-armed hunter-gatherers whose primitiveness the Empire fatally discounted. Its sibling moon Kef Bir is an ocean world ringed by similar wreckage.

The Empire built the shield generator for the second Death Star on the Forest Moon, garrisoned by legions of its 'best troops.' In 4 ABY Rebel commandos under Han Solo, aided by an Ewok uprising of logs, rocks and gliders, destroyed the generator, enabling the fleet to destroy the battle station - debris from which still litters both moons. The Battle of Endor killed Palpatine and broke the Empire's spine.

First appearance: Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi (1983)
